James: The EVERYDAY gOSPEL

What does the Gospel look like lived out in the day to day? How does the Gospel inform our work, communication, relationships? Join us this Sunday to find out in our new series.

Join us this Sunday at 10:00 AM

When you arrive

At the front door on Sunday morning, there should be some friendly people (we call them "greeters") to say hello, answer any questions you have, and direct you to our gathering area.  Folks will say hello and are open to conversation, but we'll try to be sensitive not to overwhelm you.  If you have kids, they are welcome to sit with you for all or part of the service.  If you would prefer to register your young children for class during the service, the greeters will show you where to go.  (Keep reading for more on children’s classes at Redeemer.)

Come As You Are Attitude

You'll notice that everyone is dressed comfortably, wearing anything from "office casual" to jeans and sneakers.  We are not concerned about what you wear but will simply be glad that you have come.  So just be yourself.  We also want to offer a place where you can get your questions answered.  If you are doubting or don't believe, you are welcome here.  We would love to have the opportunity to dialogue with you in hope to lead you to biblical answers for your concerns.

Service

A worship gathering is an opportunity to ascribe (acknowledge) worth to God.  It can and should be both celebratory and, at times, solemn.   We know that people have different musical preferences, but real worship transcends musical genres.  That is why our music is blended, contemporary in feel, led by anything from a single guy and a guitar to a band.

In our worship gatherings we worship and praise God, we teach from the Bible, we pray, and we take the Lord's Supper together (monthly).   We may include times of silent reflection, corporate reading of creeds or confessions, and reciting of Scripture.  All our gatherings are modern but biblical in nature. You will see people singing loudly or quietly assuming an attitude of prayer, clapping and raising their hands or simply standing reverently. We encourage all genuine expressions of biblical worship during our services. Our goal in corporate worship is to realize and experience the presence of God and give thanks for who He is and what He has done.

Biblical, Relevant Sermons

The Bible is God’s true and authoritative Word given to us so that we might love and obey Him. We learn about God, ourselves, and life through it. All of it is immensely valuable to us, and therefore, we take the preaching of the Bible very seriously. Within Redeemer, we seek to preach sermons that are both biblical and relevant, meaning that we take what the Bible is saying in any given passage, and we connect it to our lives. This is known as expositional preaching. God wants to be involved in our everyday lives, and it is through His Word and the preaching of it that He enters them. We hope that our sermons are a helpful means for you to learn about and draw nearer to God.

For the Kids

We care about your kids.  Our desire is to see them thrive in Christ!  As was mentioned above, children of all ages are welcome in the worship service. In order to support parents and help children learn and grow, we offer a couple of classes on Sunday mornings.

Redeemer Tots

Redeemer Tots is a class offered for children ages 0-3 and is available for the duration of the service. During Tots, children are able to play, learn about Jesus and the Gospel, and enjoy a small snack. Our loving volunteers use the Children Desiring God Curriculum and will practice catechism questions with the Tots during the service.  The Redeemer Tots classroom is located on the north side of the first floor of the education wing.

Redeemer Kids

Older children ages 4-6 are invited to participate in the Redeemer Kids class, which takes place during the sermon. Your kids will worship together with your family and the congregation though singing.  At the beginning of the sermon, they will be directed to the Kids classroom by the teachers. Using The Gospel Story for Kids curriculum, Redeemer Kids teachers will help the Bible come alive in the hearts of your children. Children may be signed out of class immediately following the service.  The Redeemer Kids classroom is located on the south side of the first floor of the education wing.

Please note that all of our children’s ministry volunteers undergo regular training and background checks.

Children of any age are joyfully welcomed to stay during the entire service. If you choose for your children to remain in the service with you, there are colored pencils and age-appropriate sermon note papers for them at the Welcome Center table. We believe it is invaluable for children to see their parents worshipping together and to have the opportunity to participate alongside them.  Therefore, we encourage children to join us for worship!
